General Description
The Pentax K-1 is Ricoh’s first full-frame DSLR. It features a CMOS sensor with 36.4 effective megapixels, no AA filter, and five-axis shake reduction using Ricoh’s SRII Shake Reduction system capable of reducing camera shake with a compensation range of up to five shutter steps. SRII is also the basis of other features such as Pixel Shift Resolution and elimination of moiré without an anti-aliasing filter. The new SAFOX 12 autofocus module offers 33 autofocus points.
Probably the most striking new feature of the K-1 is its flexible tilt LCD monitor which can be adjusted to the desired angle horizontally and vertically, making it easy to shoot in Live View at challenging angles. The K-1 is also the first Pentax body featuring Operation Assist Lights – compact white LEDs that facilitate camera operation in low-light environments, allowing to change lenses, swap memory cards and adjust back-of-camera controls. The so-called Smart Function dial allows photographers to easily select central functions without going into the LCD menu.
