K-30
General Description
The K30 features a new “sporty, functional design for quick response and optimum maneuverability”. With its newly designed AF module and with its ability to shoot at 6 frames per secon, the K30 is well equipped for speed shooting and activity shooting
The K-30’s new SAFOX IXi+ AF module incorporates a newly added refraction lens to minimize the chromatic aberrations of the module’s optical elements. Further, a light source sensor was added to compensate for focusing errors caused by the different wavelengths of various light sources. The responsive AF.C (continuous) mode has an auto-tracking feature. An AF assist lamp helps the camera to auto focus even in extremely low light.
The K-30 incorporates many “higher-class” features like a pentaprism viewfinder with 100% coverage. Front and thumb wheels allow for swift setting of speed and aperture, respectively. Dust and weatherproof seals are also on board for any wet or dusty or cold (down to -10°C) outdoor activity. The CMOS image sensor with 16.3 effective megapixels is of high renown and well known from the K-5 and K-5 II(s).
The K-30 was available in 9 colours (black, blue, white, red, bordeaux, green, silver, yellow, red) and for each colour a “crystal” and a “silky” variant were available, resulting in a total of 18 colours. The “regular colurs” black, crystal blue, and crystal white, were more readily available than the other colours.
The K30 AF system, its light metering etc. prooved to be so reliable and convincing, that the successor, the K-50, remained technically almost unchangend, whereas the body design was changed back to something less unusual.
